First Step to Get Past Under-Earning

Under-Earning can plague even six-figure earners.  The set of symptoms is diverse. Your gross income may or may not be an indicator.  One major symptom for many who under-earn is vagueness around their money.  Some of us never know what's in our bank accounts until there's a problem.  Some of us keep great track of our income but not of our spending, savings, retirement, or monies still owed to us.  Or maybe we're not clear about what products, practices or services really gives us the best ROI in our businesses.
Vagueness is anathema to wealth.
Do any of us think Trump, the Hiltons or the many other wealthy don't know exactly where their money is and what it's doing for them all the time?  We have many reasons for avoiding looking at our finances.  Now is the time to move past those "reasons".   These reasons turn into excuses when we let them continue to hold us back.
Step 1
Get so clear that it seems ridiculous.
Write down every penny in and every penny out every day for three months.  Penny means p-e-n-n-y.  All the dollars, quarters, dimes, nickles and pennies.  This may seem like overkill.  That's OK.  Do it anyway.  If you miss one day, continue on the next.
If you miss a week.  Start over again.  It matters that you keep going.
If you're super clear on your checking account, then add your savings/investment/retirement accounts.
Is this about your business?  In that case it's important to write down every penny as well as tracking your time spent on work.  You may discover an obvious fix and/or you may realize you're doing better than you'd thought.  Whatever you find, it's OK!  From a place of clarity you can make the most powerful and propelling decisions.  This is where you want to be.  In clarity and power you'll find your sweet spot.  You may not find your sweet spot right away.  You will probably feel uncomfortable for a while.  That's good.  It's part of the adventure.  And really, when you look back at the last challenge you overcame, the one that seems so small now, this too has come to pass.

My name is Yamaya.  I am a native Floridian and aspiring cosmopolitan world traveler. I love writing, coaching and helping people become fully present and actualized.  I do this through coaching, writing this blog, essays/poetry, training and as a classroom teacher.  Life has been good to me. Getting into the rich, delicious, nitty-gritty of life is quite close to my heart.
I have two lovely daughters, Rhiannon and Ellison.  Motherhood has helped me define myself while at times allowing me to question the heck out of who I am - and who I want to be.  Thank you universe for my husband and those girls.  I'm thinking of having a baby boy now - we'll have to see what happens.
I would love to hear your comments and feel some of your love on my blog and my website.  Thanks for being here.
